FITCHBURG, Mass. (WHDH) — An Amber Alert for a missing Fitchburg girl has been canceled after she was found safe Saturday afternoon.

According to police, the Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina responded to a possible address. Once inside, they found the missing child and her mother.

"I'm happy to report that the child is with authorities in North Carolina, is currently being held in a foster home,” said Worcester County District Attorney Joseph Early.

Police say nearly 100 tips poured in as a result of the Amber Alert.

They got a break in the case when Wilson called the Department of Children and Families.

That call led them to South Carolina and eventually to the home of one of Wilson's relatives in Cleveland County.

Leeanna Rose Wilson, 50, of Fitchburg was arrested on parental kidnapping. She is being held with no bond on an out of state fugitive warrant in Cleveland County.

Wilson allegedly abducted her daughter after she was notified that she was going to be losing custody because of reports of abuse.

The five-year-old girl was taken into protective custody until authorities could make arrangements to return her to Mass.
