I took a vote on my Facebook page last night, and it seems there are more people out there who are loving the mild weather, than people cheering for snow. I get it! Even if you’re a snow-lover and you’re usually waiting on pins and needles for the first inch of the season, many of us are still reeling from the record-breaking snow of last winter and we’re okay with a bit of a wait before we get buried again. There’s still no snow in my forecast. In fact, we’re in for even warmer temperatures tomorrow.
Highs today made it into the low 50s for most, which was about 5-7 degrees above average. The forecast tomorrow has been just a little bit tricky, and here’s why: It is quite warm upstairs in the atmosphere, we have dry air in place, under a SW flow, plenty of sunshine in store… All of these ingredients would point to our highs making it into the 60s tomorrow. However, most of the forecast models are NOT putting the temperatures even close to that mark. I have gone against those numbers, and I’m just going to go ahead and reach for the stars here. Remember, "Never say ‘never’ in weather," and CRAZIER things have happened! In fact, the record high for BOS on Dec. 6th was 72° in 2001! So, I do think that the potential is there for a few spots to break into the 60s tomorrow. This won’t necessarily happen along the coastline, but spots like Norwood and Bedford could make a good run at the low 60s. We should have a touch of a SW breeze tomorrow to aid in the "mixing" of that warmer air aloft, to move it down here for us to enjoy! This mild weather looks to be sticking around for Monday, too. Highs will be in the mid to upper 50s to start the work week, still under plenty of sunshine.
On Tuesday we turn our attention to a passing system that could bring us a chance of coastal showers and wind. Still, forecast models are showing the bulk of the system staying to the south of us before heading out to sea. But, models can change from run to run (kind of like models on the cat-walk!) so we’ll continue to watch it. It looks like a breezy day with an on-shore flow, which will take our temperatures back closer to normal. Highs will be in the mid-40s for the middle of the week.
So, does that "back to normal" verbage in the forecast mean that we’re soon getting closer to winter weather? NOPE! It really looks like yet another boost in temperatures is on the way for next weekend – and this time we could see more spots climbing into the 60s! WHAT?! Yeah. I wouldn’t lie to you. I call ’em like I see ’em.
Enjoy your weekend, and GO PATS! – Breezy
