Dang, what a thick blanket of fog this morning and not just patchy either—it’s all over southern New England. This is the kind of fog that almost forced Santa into canceling Christmas! Unfortunately for us, no reindeer with red noses are available. The fog will slowly lift this morning then it’s just a matter of getting rid of the clouds for the remainder of the day.

This time of year, with that sun about as strong as a candle, it can be a slow & long process getting low clouds & fog to burn off. In July when El Sol is putting on a gun show & showing its strength, those clouds & fog are gone by 9am but this time of year it’s not a lock. Regardless of whether the clouds break, it is a mild day with temps expected to reach the low 50s (upper 50s if we see enough sun).

The weekend starts mild as well as cloudy but sun will take over and that will send temps well into the 50s–yet another amazing December day for outdoor activities (skiing not included). Sunday is where it gets tricky as a backdoor cool front drops in from Maine. As of now, I think this front settles around or just south of the MA Pike during the day. That means a lot of clouds for everyone as well as a wide range in temps. Temps in metro Boston out through Bedford/Fitchburg & up into New Hampshire only reach the upper 40s while south of the MA Pike the temps head for the 50s once again. Simple message for Sunday…warmest south!

Our next storm is slated for next Monday evening….with no arctic air in sight, that means raindrops, not snowflakes.

Have a great weekend!
