You’re as cold as ice
You’re willing to sacrifice our love
You never take advice
Someday you’ll pay the price, I know—-Cold As Ice, Foreigner

Perhaps someone stood up Ma Nature this weekend? I mean, it’s the only reason that we see record cold temps aimed right at southern New England this weekend as well as dangerous wind chills. Hard to believe after last February—the 2nd coldest (coldest) for Boston (Worcester)– that we could see another punch of arctic air but unlike last February, this is only with us for a couple of days then we’ll see temps rebound by Tuesday of next week.

Some cold thoughts for ya:

* Wind Chill Warning in effect from 4pm Saturday until 12pm Sunday—during this time, limit outdoor exposure as wind chills will be between -15 and -25. At these temps, exposed flesh can freeze (frostbite) within  10-15 minutes.

* Temps will fall from near 20 tomorrow morning and down into the single numbers by tomorrow evening and continuing their slide below zero by Sunday Morning. Boston should have a low of -5 (record is -3) and Worcester is likely to see a low temp of -10 (record is -11). Cold like this–the kind with bitter wind chills, doesn’t happen very often in New England, it’s more like a weekend in Minnesota (I know, I used to live there for a few years in the mid 90s!)

* Out ahead of the arctic front will be a few snow showers tomorrow morning. Best chance for any accumulating snow will be along the South Coast/Cape/Islands where 1-3" of snow may fall late tonight & early tomorrow morning. Only a few flurries are possible around metro Boston.

* Sunday features brilliant sunshine but bitter temps all day. Wind will fade away by late afternoon

* Looking into early next week, after a cold start on Monday (single numbers above 0) the temps get close to 30 with light winds–chilly but a decent winter afternoon for skiing, sledding.

*Hard to believe but our next storm on Tuesday is mainly rain as warm air roars back into New England. I do think we could see a few hours of snow before the changeover with locations west of 128 possibly seeing 1-2" of snow before the changeover to rain on Tuesday morning.

Stay warm this weekend, cozy up with loved ones!
