BOSTON (AP) — Former Democratic Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick unveiled a political action committee Thursday aimed at raising money to support Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden.

Patrick — who launched a brief bid for the White House last year — said the goal of the TogetherFund PAC is to support progressive political leadership. He said in a press release the PAC will also help U.S. House and Senate candidates in swing districts and state and grassroots organizations.

“Democrats cannot waste time quarreling over relatively small policy differences when the times demand results scaled to meet the challenges before us,” Patrick said in a video.

Patrick said the PAC will continue supporting candidates for the next few campaign cycles.

“Despite our righteous anger, Democrats don’t have to hate Republicans to be good Democrats. We don’t have to hate business to achieve social justice or to hate police to believe black lives matter,” Patrick added.

Patrick said he believes the key to success is pragmatism, a message not everyone might be ready to hear, he acknowledged.

“After all the cruelty and hate unleashed by the current president and his associates, and overlooked or even celebrated by some Americans, collaboration is a tough sell among progressives,” Patrick said.
