BOSTON (WHDH) - A former MBTA fare evader has apologized and paid his debts.
On June 9, the MBTA received a letter from a person who identified themselves as Matthew Andrewes.
Andrewes said he has been riding the train for many years, and several years ago, “particularly when I was in my teens and early twenties,” he frequently avoided paying the fare to use the transit system.
“I am sorry,” he said in the letter.
Andrewes included $300 in cash with the letter.
“Please accept this money as compensation,” he said.
