BOSTON (WHDH) - A former state trooper accused of driving drunk and causing a crash that left a motorcyclist dead appeared in court for a hearing on Tuesday.

Kristopher Carr was in court to face charges that included motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle, a state police spokesman said

The incident happened last year in Boston, while Carr was off duty. As previously reported, emergency crews responded to a report of a crash involving a motorcycle and SUV on the southbound side of Interstate 93 near Freeport Street around 1:30 a.m.

Crews found Christopher Zike of Winthrop, 51, suffering from serious injuries. The motorcyclist was later taken to Boston Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Carr was relieved of his duties immediately after.
