Four people were arrested on drugs charges after police watched a drug transaction in Sturbridge.

On Saturday afternoon around 4:20 p.m. State Police patrolling Route 84 in Sturbridge observed a white Toyota Avalon being driven erratically.

While troopers were watching the car, the car exited the highway. Police followed the car until it entered a Friendly’s restaurant parking lot.

A second car, a white Nissan Altima, arrived in the parking lot. Police said the passengers appeared to be talking to one another.

Police said the Avalon left the parking lot and troopers pulled it over. The driver was identified as Joseph Morales, 28 of Jersey City, New Jersey. The passenger was identified as Fernando Negron, 28 of Jersey City, New Jersey.

Police located various pieces of narcotics paraphernalia in the car.

Meanwhile, Sturbridge Police investigated the passengers in the Altima.

The driver, Michele DeLeo, 38 of Worcester, claimed to not know the man sitting in the back of her car. The man was identified as Elias Abreu, 30 of North Bergen, New Jersey.

Police said Abreu had been a passenger in the Avalon, but entered DeLeo’s car with a duffel bag before the Avalon left the parking lot.

Police found various containers of pills, power-like substances and green vegetable matter that appeared to be marijuana.

DeLeo will be summonsed to court to face a charge of possessing a Class B substance with intent to distribute.

Morales, Negron and Abreu were charged with possession of a Class D substance with intent to distribute; two counts of possession of a Class E substance with intent to distribute; trafficking cocaine; trafficking heroin; trafficking methamphetamine; and conspiracy to violate drug law.

The men will be arraigned this week.
