A magnificent burst of color filled the skies in France over the weekend as the Berck-sur-Mer Kite Competition took place on Sunday.

The event, which took place in Northern France, drew several international squads and around 700,000 visitors.

Among the fan favorites was a larger-than-life Elvis kite.

Spectators were also able to get in on the action, with crews on hand to teach people how to fly small kites, then big kites, then to make their own.

Many of the kite experts say that training for these competitions requires year-round weekly flying sessions.
