The cold is coming, there’s no stopping it, and no, the forecast won’t change much.  Sure, we may tweak the forecast a couple degrees here and there, but the bottom line, expect Arctic air to invade New England over the weekend. Dinner dates Saturday night will be filled with folks scurrying from the car to the restaurants/movie theaters to avoid the bitter wind.

Wind chill values drop to -20 to -30 Saturday night and Sunday morning with the core of the cold from 9pm Saturday to 7am Sunday in terms of the worst wind chills.  At -30, exposed skin can get frostbite within 10 minutes, so if you plan of being outside for a while, cover any exposed skin.  Don’t leave the pets outside either!

Before we get to the core of the cold, we do get a little bit of snow to work in here tonight and early tomorrow.  While for most of the area, a spotty coating-1" out to do it, the Cape/Islands and Buzzards Bay will have the opportunity to catch some steadier snow.  1-3" may fall there with the highest totals near Chatham and Nantucket.

Despite the bitter blast, by Monday night into Tuesday, we’re talking about snow/freezing moving in, changing to all rain by Tuesday as temps jump well into the 40s.
