HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Family and friends will be gathering to remember a 12-year-old Connecticut girl who police say was stabbed to death by her twin brother last month.

A funeral for Brigid Curtin will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Hartford at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Church. A private burial will follow.

Police say they responded to the girl’s home in West Hartford on Dec. 17 when her mother, Janemarie Murphy, called to report that she and her daughter had been stabbed by her son. Brigid died and her mother was seriously wounded but survived.

The boy has been charged with murder and assault. Police have not released his name because of juvenile offender laws.

Brigid was a seventh-grade honor student at Sedgwick Middle School. She would have turned 13 last Tuesday.
