NORTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A gas leak has been contained on Route 140 in Norton, though as of Tuesday afternoon, Eversource and National Grid were working with local police to repair the line.

According to Norton Fire, they responded to Route 140 near the Taunton line for a reported gas leak Tuesday afternoon. At around 1:10 p.m., Norton Fire and Police, Eversource and National Grid shut down gas services at the scene.

Norton Fire said that a construction crew was working in the area when they struck a gas line in the street.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the street in that area, otherwise known as Taunton Street, was still partially shut down, but traffic was still being allowed through.
