Germany breaks world record for largest orchestra

Officials in Germany said thousands of musicians broke the world record Saturday for the largest orchestra ever assembled.

More than 7,500 musicians gathered in a soccer stadium in Frankfurt to play for 45 minutes.

The previous record for the largest orchestra was set in Brisbane, Australia.

The German Institute for Records certified that the Frankfurt concert beat that record by more than 300 musicians.

The Records Institute will now seek a Guinness World Records confirmation of the achievement.
