If you woke up to this in Northeast Mass. you weren’t alone.

Snow covered the ground from Greater Fitchburg to the Merrimack Valley and all the way up to Concord and Portsmouth, NH. Sad fact of April: it can and does snow.

I know, I’m glad I clarified that too. Especially for the 1-2 of you reading this blog that are new to New England. For the record, we average 1.9″ in Boston for the month of April, although I don’t think we’ll see it this year – making this the first time in 3 months we’ve had below normal snowfall.

But why waste bandwidth on talk of snow, when we face the biggest warmup of spring in the next 4 days?!

I know you’re excited…and suspicious. You have a right to be after what we’ve been through. This isn’t a rush to the warm weather, either. You have to give it time to marinate. We’ll slowly work the milder air into the forecast in the coming days. Tomorrow we’re buried in clouds as we wait for the wind to creep from the northeast to a warmer southwest direction late day. Then there’s Saturday. Blustery and bright, and still sub-60. (What gives?!) Sunday is the truly mild day. Favorable land winds from the west and another day of wall-to-wall sun.

Check out that temp trend to the right. Nice steady climb culminating in a 70+ degree day for the home opener. That’s how we do it in New England. Just when you think all hope is lost, the tide turns. I’m sure you noticed it happens for our sports teams too. So why would the weather be any different?

Kick back and enjoy the ride.

Pete
