BOSTON (WHDH) — Gracie Gold lived up to her name, capturing the U.S. champion title at the figure skating championships on Saturday.

“Everybody just crushed under pressure, but not her,” said Olympic analyst Tara Lipinski.

Fifteen-year-old Polina Edmunds came in second. Vancouver Olympian Mirai Nagasu took the bronze medal.

Ashley Wagner, the two-time national champion, was a favorite going in to this year’s competition. However, a couple of falls in her routine put her into fourth place.

“She came back for this. She has been so strong. She has been the favorite. Then for this to happen, it's shocking. I don't know what to say. It is so sad,” said Lipinski.

Hometown competitor Christina Gao finished in eighth.
