NARRAGANSETT, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man says he went from enjoying his morning coffee to assisting in a police chase in a river.

Marc Lamson noticed several officers and a police dog on his dock in Narragansett on Sunday morning and offered to help.

Police had been searching for 30-year-old Breck Holdredge on a domestic disturbance call and found him swimming through the Narrow River in an attempt to escape.

Lamson took police officers on his boat toward the man, and police pulled him from the water and arrested him.

Sgt. Kevin Bousquet says Lamson was “at the right place at the right time.”

Police say Holdredge had several warrants out for his arrest, and faces charges of disorderly conduct and resisting arrest. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
