BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Charlie Baker is heading to Washington, D.C. to discuss transportation and military issues.
On Wednesday morning the Republican governor will meet with Gen. Mark Milley, chief of staff to the United States Army, at the Pentagon to discuss the progress of the Massachusetts Military Task Force.
The task force was created in 2012 in part to strengthen the state’s six military installations and their impact on local communities.
Later Wednesday, Baker, joined by state Transportation Secretary Stephanie Pollack and Democratic Congressman Mike Capuano, will meet with Amtrak President Wick Moorman to talk about the relationship between Amtrak and the state.
On Thursday, Baker will participate in a National Governors Association’s seminar for new governors.
Baker will also accept Governing Magazine’s Public Official of the Year Award on Wednesday night.
