CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — While there’s no known threat to people in New Hampshire following the deadly nightclub shooting in Orlando, Gov. Maggie Hassan says authorities are working to provide “additional presence and resources” at events like the Laconia Motorcycle Week and destinations such as Hampton Beach.

Hassan said Monday that the Department of Safety and New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management are working to maintain public safety and “ensure emergency preparedness at events across the state.”

Thousands participate in Motorcycle Week, which runs through Sunday. And sculptors are preparing sand for the annual Master Sand Sculpting competition at the beach, which starts Thursday.

About 50 people died in the shooting Sunday and 53 others were injured.
