Boston’s iconic steaming kettle, which sits above the entrance to Starbucks at Government Center, was taken down Monday after it was damaged.
The kettle was damaged overnight Sunday into Monday. It appeared to be dented on one side. It is unclear how the kettle was damaged but there are a lot of trucks and equipment that go through the area every day.
Crews said repairs may take four or five weeks.
The kettle has been in Boston for almost 150 years.
