Graco is recalling 4.7 million strollers in the US in response to reports of children getting their fingers amputated.
The folding hinge on the sides of strollers can pinch a child’s finger, posing a laceration or amputation hazard.
Graco has received six reports of fingertip amputations, four reports of partial-fingertip amputations and one finger laceration.
The recall involved 11 models of Graco and Century-brand strollers sold at retail stores nation-wide.
Consumers should contact Graco for a free repair kit at 800-345-4109 or online at gracobaby.com.
Graco said caregivers should exercise extreme caution when unfolding the stroller to be certain the hinges are firmly locked before placing a child in the stroller.
An additional 202,000 Graco strollers are being recalled in Canada and about 10,300 are being recalled in Mexico.
