SOMERVILLE, MASS. (WHDH) - The MBTA’s Green Line extension plan has gone off the track.

The seven new stations that would extend the Green Line into Somerville and Medford are now scheduled to open in 2021.

Officials say this is because rising cost estimates have caused the state to halt the project.

Originally, the multi billion dollar project was scheduled to open in 2020.
