Welcome to Groundhog Day! Our furry friend shines today as the predication of winter’s continuation or demise hinges on a shadow. As a reminder, if the groundhog sees a shadow, it means 6 more weeks of winter (what winter?). It’s a fun tradition, and now with social media, it means a flood of groundhog and Phil Connors pics/clips/memes today. We’ll have fun with it.
Our local Ms. G will give her forecast this morning from Drumlin Farm http://www.mastategroundhog.com/about/index.html
While the sun shines today, temps do run a good 15-20 degrees cooler than yesterday, but still nice for this time of year with highs in the mid to upper 40s.
Wednesday brings in a gusty wind and a good dose of rain with temps back into the 50s. Wind gusts 30-40mph are likely, even higher down over the Cape and Islands/Buzzards Bay. Rain totals run about an inch with this shot of downpours and perhaps even a crack of thunder with this storm. The heaviest rain and strongest winds arrive in the afternoon and evening.
A few showers linger near the coast into Thursday morning, but the forecast is rather quiet to end the week and go into the weekend.
The next chance for a storm rolls in here sometime around Tuesday of next week.
Enjoy the sunshine!
