PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Police in Maine say the reckless handling of a firearm in a car caused two passengers to be injured by one bullet.
They say an 18-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man from Portland were injured on July 1 when they were shot by the single bullet while the car was being driven in Portland. There were three people inside.
Police say the bullet went through the man’s hand and lodged in the woman’s leg. Both are recovering. Police say the shooting was unintentional.
Police have not identified the people involved in the shooting, or offered information on who handled the gun. They haven’t arrested anyone.
