HAVERHILL, MASS. (WHDH) - A Haverhill police officer was arrested Thursday night on his second drunken driving charge after slamming into multiple cars, authorities said.

Police allege that Francis Rogers, 60, crashed into two parked cars on South Main Street around 8 p.m.

Responding officers said Rogers’ eyes were “bloodshot and glossy.” He was arrested on OUI charges.

A police report stated that Rogers claimed he was cut off by another car, causing him to crash.

Police said Rogers failed multiple field sobriety tests. When Rogers was placed in handcuffs, officers said he grew belligerent, saying they were “ruining his career.”

Rogers was booked into the Haverhill Police Department, but was bailed out.

Rogers was arraigned Friday morning. A judge revoked his driving privileges.

He is slated to return to court on Feb. 28.
