Spring is here and so is allergy season, which is more severe in different parts of the country.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation ranked the nation’s largest cities based on how severe allergy season is. Factors that went into ranking included how much pollen the cities have, how many residents are seeking treatment and how easily allergists can be accepted.
The worst places in the country for spring allergies are Jackson, Mississippi, Memphis, Tennessee and Syracuse, New York. Syracuse came in at 20 last year and meteorologists said a warmer winter is to blame.
"Syracuse has had its sixth warmest winter spanning from December to February," said Syracuse meteorologist Molly Matott. "As of today, we’re also 4 feet shy of our normal snow total."
The city ranked as the best place for allergy sufferers in the spring was Daytona Beach, Florida. Boston was also on the low end of the list, coming in at 77 out of 100.
