BOSTON (WHDH) - A new study shows e-cigarettes may help people trying to quit smoking.

The British study, published Wednesday, found about 18,000 people quit smoking in 2015 with the help of e-cigarettes.

While researchers said there is no evidence the e-cigarettes directly made smokers quit, the number of the people who successfully quit smoking increased as more smokers used e-cigarettes.
