New research finds that the West Nile Virus is a persistent problem in the United States, though not a growing one.

The Centers for Disease Control said about 2,200 cases of West Nile Virus were reported in 2014, making it the most common mosquito-borne illness in the country.

Experts said the amount of cases in the country is around the same each year. They also said that most people with West Nile Virus never develop symptoms and less than 1 percent develop a serious illness.
