BOSTON (WHDH) — A heat advisory will be in effect for much of the eastern half of Massachusetts Wednesday afternoon.

Temps will reach into the lower to middle 90s from Worcester through Boston. The coolest locations will be Buzzards Bay and the Cape and the islands with highs there closer to 80 degrees.

Temperatures could feel warmer than 100 degrees between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. due to the high humidity.

The forecasted high of 93 in Boston is well shy of the record high of 99 for Sept. 11. In Worcester the high of 89 Wednesday will also likely fall short of the record of 91. Both those records were established in the summer of 1983.
