Fitting that on #TBT we have a weather map that looks more like a map in early November rather than December. See here:
* Morning temps are in the 40s
* A cool front is moving through with rain showers/sprinkles
* When the cool front moves away this afternoon, temps will still be above normal (upper 50s)
* This cool front has come from the Pacific Ocean rather than the Arctic Circle
All elements one would normally find in early November. The main reason for winter MIA these days is the strongest El Nino since 1997 is occurring. Typically, strong El Nino’s have warm starts & cold finishes…same to be said with snow–slow starts then making up during the 2nd half of winter. Last winter is not happening again but at the same time, we won’t skip completely over winter either. Until the pattern breaks, enjoy the warmth!
Warmth is what the next 7 days are all about! Temps the next several days will easily reach the 50s & low 60s and to make things even better, dry until Monday of next week. At that time, a cool front swings through with rain…some beneficial rain I might add.
There are a few signals in our long range charts that suggest perhaps a more December like pattern happening late next week (weekend of December 19-20th)……first time I’ve seen the models hint at anything other than warm rain since last March. Nothing to hype…just to watch for now.
