Hot enough for you? Before all of the storms yesterday, BOS popped up to 91° for a high. Today again, although briefly touching 90°, BOS still hit it. So, that means we're 2 for 3! To officially call it a "heat wave," it takes three consecutive days of 90°+ at Boston, Logan. We have a heat wave in progress, folks. I think we'll make it there tomorrow to make it official. It really is all about the heat and humidity. We're talking low to mid 90s tomorrow, and quite possibly one of the hottest days of the summer. High pressure kept us storm free today, and I think we'll continue that trend again tomorrow. However, when we're talking heat + humidity as we are for the beginning of the week, we also keep a slight chance of storms in the forecast for each afternoon. I do think that the most likely day for isolated pop-up storms will be Tuesday (30%). This doesn't not look like a severe event… If we get storms, they should be NOTHING close to the action we saw last night.
Oh, and side-note (going back to yesterday's storms): The NWS in Boston has confirmed they will not be doing a survey on the storm damage in Natick last night. They have determined from their spotter reports and pictures that it was "straight-line wind damage," and not a "micro-burst."
As we continue to trudge through these hot and humid days, remember to take care of yourself and your loved-ones. Yes, it's cliche to say things like, "drink lots of water!" and "Don't stay outside too long!" Yet, it seems that we all need these reminders. We just get so busy in our lives that we sometimes forget important things… I know I use these weather sayings a lot (particularly, "When thunder roars, go indoors") but I guess my hope is to get these rhymes and sayings stuck in your head so that you think of them subconsciously. So, the weather saying I want to get stuck in your head this week: "Beat the heat! Check the backseat!"
I hope your week will be off to a great start. – Breezy
