WAREHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - A motorist reported being side swept by an erratically passing vehicle early Saturday morning in East Wareham.

The incident occurred on Glen Charlie Road.

The motorist stayed behind the vehicle and reported locations to the Wareham Police as the vehicle traveled from 495 North to Route 195, where it then got off the highway heading toward the Wareham Crossing Mall.

Police spotted the vehicle traveling at high speeds.

During this time police learned that the driver could be a 17-year-old man and resident of Wareham who had a suspended license.

The vehicle crashed near 491 County Road where it sustained extensive damage from skidding off the road and hitting several trees.

The driver was the 17-year-old but is not being identified at this time.

He was found lying in the road with obvious injuries.

The man was transported to Rhode Island Hospital in serious condition.

There were no passengers in the vehicle and there are no other reported injuries as a result of the incident.

The investigation is ongoing at this time.
