HINGHAM, MASS. (WHDH) - Hingham Police say they have identified a driver who rear-ended another car after the license plate left an imprint on the second car’s bumper.
According to police, a driver left the scene of a crash but investigators were able to track the vehicle down using the information from the imprint.
The Hingham Police Department said they have seen license plates left at crashes before, but not an imprint of the plate from the impact.
In the photo above, the imprint of the plate can be seen, though it is difficult to read.
There is no immediate word on the identity of the suspect.
We've had license plates left at a crash scene when car leaves scene, but a license plate impression? Hard to see, but it led to the driver. pic.twitter.com/d1Z5qnMpXq
