A Hooksett man was charged with drunk driving after he crashed into a telephone pole early Sunday morning.

According to Hooksett police, an officer saw 63-year-old George Kimionakis exit the parking lot of the Chantilly’s Restaurant and Pub and travel north on Hooksett Road.

Kimionakis attempted to take a right turn onto Silver Ave., but struck the pole head-on.

Police said it became apparent after speaking to Kimionakis that he was under the influence of alcohol.

Kimionakis agreed to field sobriety tests, and was then placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated. He was not injured in the crash.

The  telephone pole had no major damage, and was deemed safe by Eversource upon inspection.

Kimionakis refused a breath test at the police station, and was released on $1,500 personal recognizance bail.

He is scheduled to appear before the 6th Circuit Court in Hooksett on April 12.
