There was hope in the air today, wasn’t there? You could feel it! Even though our seasonal snow total went up again yesterday (now at 110.6″), and even though our highs were still well below average… there was still hope in the air! We had bright sunshine to enjoy and calm wind. It was all perfectly perfect, for winter standards. I’ll take it, but I want spring to spring!
I’m still watching a couple of shots at snowflakes for the first half of the week. We are in an active and cool pattern that could mean more of the “4-letter-S-word” before an end-of-the-week-warm-up. You follow? The first chance arrives early tomorrow morning. A system moves to our north but sweeps a cold front through, and this could pop a few snow and/or rain showers in the area. It looks like light precip, and for most it will be sprinkles of rain rather than “snizzle.” I haven’t put out a snow forecast map for this because the most likely areas to see any snow will be along Route 2 and the Worcester hills, but it still looks like less than an inch of accumulation – if any. It shouldn’t ruin anyone’s day.
Tuesday the sun is back in the picture with a few clouds, but temps are in the mid 40s. As we well know though, don’t get used to a good thing. The next shot at some flakes will be overnight Tuesday. A clipper moves through during this time frame, which could mean a quick inch or two of snow. Now, last night I said there’s a chance for snow south of the Pike, and today I’m even more convinced that the system moves through to the south of Mass. and we just dang near miss it altogether. Again, I’m not putting out a snow forecast map for this. Worst case scenario would be a quick inch or two of snow south of the Pike – but I only give that about a 30% chance at this point. I’ll continue to keep an eye on it.
Now, the real good stuff we’ve all been waiting for: A warm up is on the way! Temps boost into the 50s for Thursday and into the 60s for Friday! This is the first time in a LONG time that I have put the word “PLEASANT” on my extended forecast (partially because it’s in all capital letters and makes me feel like I’m shouting), but I went for it on this forecast. If I had had the option to use the word “SPLENDID,” I would’ve used that… even in all caps. If we actually break into the 60s (which we should), I may be shouting a lot of things in all capital letters. :c) – Bri
