We did it again Boston! Southwest winds working with a hot airmass catapulted us to the low 90s in many spots. With an official high of 91 in Boston, we now have 11 days of 90 or warmer in this "warm season". (Typically we get 14 in a normal season.) See how it compares with other years in the graphic to the right.

I’m not expecting to hit 90 again tomorrow in the city, but it’s a possibility in the suburbs to the southwest. A cool front will come along in the afternoon and fire up some storms in addition to switching the wind direction from southwest (today) to northeast (tomorrow). Game changer in terms of temperature. Granted, it’s coming off of relatively warm ocean waters, so the tempering affects will be limited. Hence the m/u 80s in the forecast.

Not a fan of the heat? We’ll take care of you "real good" by Friday. A touch of autumn will present itself on a cool east/northeast breeze. Dare I say we may be reaching for the light coats on Friday night.

Yeah, I dare.

And a cool start to Saturday too. But fret not, late-season revelers of sun and warmth. The weekend features a spectacularly sunny forecast with a huge turnaround in temperatures. Days are still long enough – and the airmass will be warm enough – to bring us to near 90 by the end of the holiday weekend.

As far as rain is concerned, it’s status quo. May squeak out a good downpour tomorrow in any storms, but the effects of any rain will be washed away with the coming heat over the holiday weekend.
