Two little girls were killed in a house fire in Orange that also injured three other people.

The fire started late Saturday afternoon at the house on Mechanic Street. Neighbor Richard Snow said he ran outside to help when he heard the father of one of the girls yelling that the children were trapped inside.

"It’s a tragedy. It’s horrible, it’s hard to take in," said Snow.

The two young victims were identified as 6-year-old Leena Ciolino and 8-year-old Victoria Gaignard. Victoria was at Leena’s house for a sleepover when the fire started. The three injured people were Leena’s older brother and parents. Neighbors said her father was hurt as he tried running upstairs to get to them.

Grief counselors will be on hand at Fisher Hill School this week for the girls’ classmates. The cause of the fire remains under investigation but sources tell 7News it does not appear to be suspicious.
