Mayor Thomas Menino was honored Thursday during a renaming ceremony at the Hyde Park YMCA.
The Greater Boston YMCA is now named the Thomas M. Menino YMCA, signifying his commitment to the city.
As a child Menino spent his summers at the Hyde Park YMCA where he and thousands of other children found a home away from home
“To say I accept this, it’s really humbling to have a place that I knew when I was a kid,” Menino said.
Menino’s wife Angela was also in attendance at the ceremony.
