I-495 reopened after pothole in bridge is fixed

HAVERHILL, MASS. (WHDH) - Parts of I-495 are reopened in Haverhill after a hole opened right in the middle of a bridge.

The pothole shut down two lanes on the southbound side of I-495 so repairs can be done. Highway crews said a deteriorated piece of concrete came loose in the middle of the bridge, creating an opening right through to the river below.

The closed lanes created massive traffic backups.
