… No but really, I am dreaming a little… I’m not used to this early shift yet!!  But I bet you thought I was going to say, "I’m dreaming of a white Christmas."  Well, we can all keep on dreaming.  Everyone I encountered yesterday afternoon just gave me a, "It’s not really going to be 70° on Christmas Eve, is it?"  Yes.  It really is.  It’s weird.  It’s very weird.  Even some spring bulbs are trying to bloom, and the season-confusion continues.  Santa may even be so confused by the time he gets to Boston that he shows up wearing sandals and socks (because I feel like that’s something a man of Kris Kringle’s age would do).

We’re starting this Wednesday morning with areas of fog.  A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect through 10am for SE Mass, Cape Cod and the Islands (see pic below).  While visibility will improve, there will still be some areas that keep patchy fog around into the afternoon.  We’re also in for another round of wet weather today.  Yesterday was like a garden sprinkler; just scattered showers and drizzle, on and off throughout the day.  Today’s rain will be times of getting hit with the garden hose.  The tap doesn’t turn on until the afternoon (around 4pm), and will bring about 0.50" to an inch through the wee hours of tomorrow morning.  This round of rain is very reminiscent of a springtime system, so rumbles of thunder – not out of the question!

A warm front pushes through overnight, which will really fire up the blow torches for record-breaking warmth on Christmas Eve.  Temps tomorrow morning could already be nearing 60° along the South Coast!  Temps keep marching on from there… to near 70°… and even breaking the 70° in some spots.  That’s not out of the question if we can get some of the clouds to move out for some sunshine!  Christmas Day is dry and highs will top out around 60°.

So where is winter?  Currently it’s out west.  Where is the cold?  Same spot.  When will it feel more like winter for us?  Looks like the beginning of next week.  After climbing into the 60s again on Sunday, we’ll get another "shock to the system" on Monday with highs only around 40, and a blustery wind out of the NW… and YES, that is snowflake on my 7on7 forecast!  While I don’t think we’ll be counting inches of snow, the temps are colder on Tuesday morning and we could get some wintry precip to start; could be snowflakes, could be sleet, could be some ice… Still some time to nail down the details, but we’re watching it!

Enjoy your Wednesday!  – Breezy
