Not only are we inching closer to the weekend, but we’re inching closer to the end of winter. How nice is it to have some daylight until about 5:30 in the afternoon now? This time last year, Boston had already received over 96" of snow and Worcester had over 103" in the books as the snowiest month on record and the 2nd coldest month of record has us in it’s arctic grip.
Despite having an easier winter, it’s not quite time to stick a fork in winter just yet. While sustained weeks of cold and snow are unlikely, we can still get our shot at winter weather at times. Today overall will feel more like winter with temps in the low to mid 30s and a cool breeze. Sunshine prevails inland as a few more clouds hold near the coast and even a few Cape Cod snow showers are possible today and tonight. Tonight is cold, single digits and teens in the burbs to near 20 over the Cape and in the city.
The weekend won’t feature much winter other than a few very early morning snow showers/sleet pellets Saturday. By Saturday afternoon, temps run 45-50 with mostly cloudy skies, a breeze and a passing sprinkle. Sunday is mainly dry and again near 50.
While a few rain and snow showers may zip through here Sunday night and early Monday, we’ll have to wait until Tuesday night and Wednesday to get a chance at a bigger storm as an area of low pressure moves up the east coast. Track will determine how much snow/mix we get before any change to rain. Plenty of time to watch this one.
Enjoy the day and stay warm!
