In the wake of the catastrophic, devastating fires that have engulfed their homeland back in Australia, they are hosting an event to show their support and love from Boston.

In the true sense of their Aussie community spirit, they are banding together with at least 20 of our very generous and talented chef mates here. They are doing what a lot of their Aussie friends at home would do if they could, and bringing everyone together with food and community to help all those suffering the truly crushing effects of these fires.

Along with some amazing food and great company, they will also be hosting a raffle and silent auction to add to the funds that they raise on the night. All proceeds will be passed on to a number of amazing services that have been integral with the firefighting effort, saving lives, and supporting those most in need during this monumental crisis. This tragedy has only just begun, and it won’t end when the fires go out. So many have lost everything. The affected communities will need to rebuild absolutely everything from water systems, electricity grids to homes, hospitals, shops and schools. New South Wales alone has lost a third of its koala population. Millions of animals need your help.

They have always been overwhelmed and blown away by the wonderful sense of community, kindness and strength that the people of Boston show during times of need. They know that this will be no different and they will show their friends in Australia that they have mates all the way over here on the other side of the world.

Safe from natural hazards such as earthquakes and volcanoes and populated with mostly nice and peaceful people, Denmark is often seen as what Danes would call: “the melted butter in the center of of the sweet porridge.” However, the concept of resilience has also found its way to this small Scandinavian country in recent years. Denmark is now building more resilient cities to cope with climate change, the Danish national crisis management system has been transformed into an all-hazards resilient approach relying on flexible response from cross-sectorial coordinating bodies, and volunteer organizations play an increasingly important role in emergency management and pre-hospital health services in Denmark.
