A Hollywood star and a Boston Marathon bombing survivor are teaming up.
Jake Gyllenhaal is set to star as Jeff Bauman in an upcoming movie.
Sunday night, the duo stopped by the Boston Medical Center’s pasta dinner ahead of Monday’s Marathon to talk about bringing Bauman’s story to life.
Gyllenhaal has a close connection to Massachusetts, as he spent his summers on Cape Cod.
Gyllenhaal and Bauman are honorary co-captains of the BMC Marathon team.
Former New England Patriots player Jerod Mayor hosted, as they discussed the movie "Stronger," based on Bauman’s book, which is currently being filmed around Boston.
The event highlighted fundraising for the center’s trauma unit, which treated many Marathon bombing victims, including Bauman.
Gyllenhaal said he is impressed by the passion he sees from the people of Boston.
While many runners are on the road, Bauman and Gyllenaal will be at Fenway Park to throw out the ceremonial first pitch before the Red Sox game.
They will also be filming a scene for "Stronger."
Fans are asked to be in their seats by 10:30 a.m. in order to be a part of the filming process.
