GUILFORD, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut have charged a juvenile with manslaughter in connection with the death in January of his 15-year-old friend, who authorities say accidentally shot himself in the head.
Guilford police say the juvenile was arrested Monday and also charged with reckless endangerment for an incident that occurred before the shooting. The teen’s name wasn’t disclosed under juvenile offender laws.
A prosecutor’s report released last week concluded that Ethan Song accidentally shot himself at a friend’s home in Guilford.
The prosecutor declined to charge the handgun owner, Daniel Markle, saying the weapon was stored in a master bedroom closet and there was no evidence it was loaded or stored improperly.
Police said no adults were home at the time.
Song’s parents sued Markle for alleged improper storage of the gun.
