I really shouldn’t bring up any painful memories on a day like today, but last winter we had to wait until March 4th to warm temps above 40°. YIKES. That’s a far cry from our highs in the upper 50s today – marking the 34th time this winter we’ve had temperatures 50° or above! Feels more like the beginning of spring than the end of winter…
If you liked today, you’ll like tomorrow as well. We’re back into the mid 50s for most with a breeze out of the SW. The biggest difference in the forecast for tomorrow (when compared to today) is that there’s a slight chance of isolated showers tomorrow. A system, now over the Great Lakes, will continue to lift to the NE and drag a weakening cold front through our area around mid-day Monday. This could pop a few showers in a few spots… but some of us may stay completely dry through the day. Not a washout by any means. And still, another day well above normal… which continues into Tuesday (upper 40s) and Wednesday, as well!
The better chance for wet weather comes on Wednesday – and the forecast models are still playing games with nailing this one down. This could start off as a bit of a wintry-mix, but I’m thinking that’s really for areas far N and W. As the precip moves in with this system overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning, there could be some spots that drop just below the freezing mark. This is for the overnight hours though, and I don’t foresee it causing any problems for the Wed. morning commute. Temps get another boost on Wednesday, back into mid to upper 50s, and all of this precip will be rain. This system also comes along with some gusty winds, between 40-50mph at times.
As with most of our storm systems we’ve seen this winter, the track of this mid-week storm is once again cutting to the "inside," meaning to the west of us. That puts us on the "warm" side of the storm = rain again. However, after the warm front moves through, the cold front will eventually follow – and if we can keep some of that precip cranking after the passage of the cold front, we could end up with some more wintry-precip on the tail end of this event. The timing of some rain/snow mix (if we see it at all) would be overnight Wednesday into early Thursday morning. Stay tuned for updates on this.
That cold front that I just spoke of – THAT cold front is going to bring us back to the reality of winter. Temps on Thursday top out in the mid to upper 30s, and it stays cold into the weekend. Another storm system could bring us some snow on Friday – but forecast models are now putting that storm well to our south. It’s still worth mentioning. Have a great week! – Breezy
P.S. I would like to mention, IF we’re in for any more snow this winter – it looks like it would have to be within the next 10 days. After March 10th – long range models show a WARM UP.
