Five new members received top honors at the Kennedy Center Honors on Sunday.
This award is given to people who have contributed to American culture through the arts.
Star Wars director, George Lucas, was among the group of recipients.
Rita Moreno, the first Latina to win an Oscar, was also there.
President Obama was present at the ceremony but arrived a little late after his oval office address.
"We honor five artists who helped tell the story of the first American century. . through music, theater, and film, and by doing so helped to shape it. Helped to inspire it. Helped to fortify our best instincts about ourselves," said Obama.
Other recipients include 90 year old, Cicely Tyson, who became the oldest honoree so far.
Singer-songwriter Carole King was also an honoree.
