Another in a string of stellar days. Highs made the mid and upper 70s with abundant sun after another chilly start in the 40s and 50s. This is the 3rd day in a row of 30+ degree temperature swings in the ‘burbs. Hallmark of a dry airmass and the longer nights.
A stealthy batch of cool air was en route to Southern New England via Northern New England this afternoon. You may not notice it this evening, but it will be very apparent by tomorrow.
Take a look at those autumn-like highs in the low/mid 60s. Normal high is around 70 this time of year. Still? Yes, still. It slips below 70 on Saturday. Ironically, this is also when the temperatures will start a slow climb into next week.
Lots of subtle things in the forecast ahead. First, the cooldown tomorrow, then we settle in for a bright weekend…or so it seems. A sneaky, wet weather system is stuck in the Carolinas right now. It is essentially adrift – disconnected from the jetstream by about 1500 miles. As such, the weather maps are having a hard time reconciling it in the next few days. I have my reservations about it crawling up the Eastern Seaboard and bringing us rain. Yeah, I guess I need more convincing in this persistently dry weather pattern.
If we see anything, it appears some clouds may come our way by the end of the weekend. We’ll see how that plays out, but for now it looks pleasant – with a few weak showers weaseling in by Monday and Tuesday (from an approaching front and what’s leftover from the aforementioned weather system).
