The Yarmouth Police Department says the community has shown so much support for one of their biggest fans that it’s actually overwhelming Boston Children’s Hospital.
According to a post on the Yarmouth Police Facebook page, "Junior Officer Leah" is Leah Archambault, a girl who has been hospitalized at Boston Children’s Hospital.
Archambault just underwent her 10th spinal surgery in 3 years. The post said the surgery was "the most involved yet," and was expected to last a minimum of 10 hours.
Leah lost her dad suddenly just two weeks ago, and now had to undergo an involved surgery – it’s a procedure she needed to survive.
The Yarmouth Police Department said Leah had a long day and rough night Friday, but is now recovering at Boston’s Children’s Hospital.
"She’s one of a kind," Deputy Chief Steven Xiarhos said.
The little girl’s smile lights up a room, and she loves to visit the Yarmouth Police. And they love her just as much.
The Police department says that Leah doesn’t get many cards, and the department is hoping to raise community awareness to raise her spirits. Leah likes "animals, horses, cars, Legos, and anything with a joke in it!"
So many cards have been sent to the hospital that the police department is now asking community members to send cards instead to:
