A large crash caused major delays on Route 93 in Windham, New Hampshire on Friday. 

According to the Derry, New Hampshire, Fire Department, they received approximately 50 calls reporting a multi-car pile-up on the highway around 10:15 a.m. 

The pileup involved 40 cars.

"We had just experienced a brief snow event that caused slippery roads and whiteout conditions," the fire department said. 

The crash extended on Rt. 93 southbound from the Derry/Londonderry town line through Derry, Windham and into Salem. 

Five victims required extrication and transport from Derry and the department evaluated another six victims that refused treatment or transport, according to the Derry Fire Department. 

The Windham Fire Department said 15 people were transported to the hospital, but they are all expected to make a full recovery. 

The crash closed the highway between exits 3 and 5 for a couple of hours. 

The crashes happened Friday morning. Numerous cars were involved in the crash.
