A legal fight surrounding a disgraced former Massachusetts chemist may be heading to the state supreme judicial court this fall.
The fight is whether to dismiss all drug cases tied to Annie Dookhan who admitted to tampering with evidence and submitting false reports.
There are more than 40,000 cases over a nine-year period.
The ACLU and public defenders are pushing for the dismissals, but many district attorneys oppose them.
Since the scandal rose, hundreds of defendants have successfully challenged their convictions.
