Lilly King and Katie Meili, both U.S. Olympic rookies, landed on the podium in the 100m breaststroke finals. King set a new Olympic record of one minute, 1:04.93 seconds to out-touch a late-charging Yulia Efimova of Russia.
Meili, who last summer won the 100m breaststroke title at the Pan American Games, claimed the bronze in 1:05.69.
